For over 20 years, Stonebrook Day School has given Murfreesboro families a place where children are known, valued, and inspired. As the area's only Reggio Emilia-inspired school, set on a 3-acre natural campus, we've built something genuinely different.
Our faculty and staff are talented, dedicated early childhood professionals who create the warm, caring environment that makes Stonebrook unique. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our curriculum blends child- and teacher-initiated projects that follow each child's emerging interests, observed through play, photography, and documentation.
We believe children are capable, curious, and full of potential from their very first day. Everything we do, from our natural campus to our project-based classrooms, is built to honor that belief.
My name is Heather Hargis, and I have had the pleasure of being part of the Stonebrook family for more than 16 years. I have an associate degree in education and 26 years of experience in the early childhood field, serving as a teacher, assistant director, and now director.

Stonebrook Day School opened its doors in May 2003, founded by Donna and Rick Smith with a vision for a different kind of early childhood experience, one built on nature, curiosity, and respect for the child.
Over the past two decades, that vision has grown into the school families know today: a 3-acre natural campus and the only Reggio Emilia-inspired program in Murfreesboro. While the school has grown and evolved, its founding belief has never changed.
